My love of fabrics is the key driving force in my art. I enjoy the tactile qualities of the fabric as I work with it, the colors that change when the light or the fabric next to it changes, and the real and implied textures that add depth to creations.

Whether I am designing a jacket or starting a quilt, I choose my fabrics first. Only when I have my fabric selections do I begin to work on the pattern or composition. My task as an artist is to bring together pieces of very disparate fabrics—each with its own color, pattern and texture—and make them work together as a whole composition.

Everything I do incorporates hand-stitching, a connection to my past. Sometimes the hand-stitching is functional; sometimes it just adds texture and line; sometimes it tells a story.

I invite you to look closely—for a bit of sparkle or whimsy to make you smile or an unexpected story to connect us. Share my joy.
