Dave’s passion is painting outdoors in all seasons throughout New England.
Dave paints in the tradition and is inspired by the Boston and Cape Ann painters of the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
He studied studio painting at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester NH under the tutelage of Partick McCay. He also studied with prominent Cape Ann painters Stapleton Kearns and David Curtis as well as Boston and Nantucket painter Thomas R Dunlay.
In 2015, Dave was selected to be the Artist-In-Residence at the Whistler House Museum of Art where he occupied the historic third-floor studio for over two years. He is a juried artist member of the North Shore Arts Association in Gloucester; the Rockport Art Association and Museum; and is an accepted member of the Copley Society of Art in Boston.
Dave was selected as a featured artist for the 2020 and 2021 Cape Ann Plein Air Festival featuring forty artists from all over the country for the week-long event.
Dave’s works are owned by several individual collectors as well as many institutions such as the City of Lowell (Lowell City Hall); Boston Partners Financial Group; Lahey Clinic; Florida Craft Distributors; Lowell Community Health Center; Enterprise Bank; and the MKtix Company among others.
He has exhibited at the Bristol Art Museum; Massachusetts State House; Guild of Boston Painters; Bank Gloucester; Whistler House Museum of Art and the Andover Historical Society among others.
Dave serves on the board of trustees for the North Shore Arts and as a board member of the Arts Institute of Merrimack Valley. He occupies a studio at Western Ave Studios, 122 Western Ave, #560, Lowell MA
