What gets your dander up? What really pisses you off? What gasoline ignites your spark plug? What makes you really angry? Is it social media, the environment, the political environment, the price of gas, lobster, your diet??? What pushes your Hot Button?
Activism is in the air! Fifty artists will be chosen to create wearable and collectable “Hot Button” designs for this fun interactive show at the Loading Dock Gallery. Show the world what makes you angry by designing a wearable and collectable “Hot Button”.

The Way it Works:  The public is invited to attend the opening event on Thursday, August 2,
6 – 8pm. Artists are encouraged to attend. Bags of 6 randomly selected buttons will be available for purchase at $5 per bag. The fun begins as people trade, barter, buy, and cajole each other to get the buttons they wish to collect. Refreshments will be served. The Navigation Brewery beer garden will be open with food trucks on the premises. Hot Buttons will be available for purchase in the gallery during the month of August.

Entry Fee:  $25 for three entries and $20 for each additional set of three entries. Limited to four sets of 3 entries per artist.

Eligibility: Open to artists over 18 years of age.

Requirements: Entries must be original designs. The Loading Dock Gallery reserves the right to reject works judged inappropriate for display that differ from the digital image(s) or description submitted or which are found to be not professionally presented.
Artwork should not exceed 4” x 4” in size and must be suitable for scanning. The designs will be scaled down to 1” from your original art so keep in mind that detail may be lost.
 
 
Jury: (Artworks will be chosen for content consistent with the theme of the show.) 
Hot Buttons will be chosen by the gallery staff.
 
Accepted Artists: Accepted artists will be notified by email by July 15, 2018.

Delivery:   Send the artwork as a JPEG attachment in an email to [email protected]  by July 13.  Include your name, contact email, title of your piece, city and state. It is important to include a brief explanatory statement detailing your reason for the button as it will be part of the exhibit. Loading Dock Gallery reserves the rights to edit your statement for brevity and appropriateness.

Insurance: The Loading Dock Gallery insures objects on loan while they are at the Gallery. Works are not insured in transit to and from the Gallery. The price/insurance valuation should reasonable reflect the value of the artwork. Proof of valuation will be required should a claim be filed. There is a $500.00 deductible on each item.
The Gallery will not be responsible for damage of artwork that has been deemed by Gallery personnel as too fragile, unstable, or improperly prepared for hanging. This work will not be accepted into the show. Artwork is not insured if left beyond the designated pick-up days.

Photography/Publicity: Loading Dock Arts, Inc. reserves the right to photograph work for publicity. By entering your work in the exhibition you agree to the use of your name, likeness, certain personal information, and artwork in any publicity material developed and used by the Loading Dock Gallery.

Sales/ Commission: ​ The Loading Dock Gallery requires 40% commission for non-members. If sold, the exhibited button will be subject to commission and any appropriate credit card fees on the sale. Artists will receive payment within 15 days after the close of the show. The Loading Dock Gallery, a program of Loading Dock Arts, Inc. is a 501c3 co-op gallery.
