Show: Into the Night
Show Dates: November 1 - 26, 2017
Opening Reception: Saturday, November 4, 5-7 PM
This November, twilight gives way to darkness at Loading Dock Gallery. Deb Arsenault and Denise Rainis take us Into the Night, to a world lit by streetlights and stars.
Sunset is a repeating coda to the day: an end and a beginning. Travel Into the Night, and let go of daytime responsibilities. Darkness is a time of mystery. Its shadow creates space for dreams.
For Arsenault, the technical challenges of night photography let’s her convey atmosphere and emotions different from those than perceived with the naked eye. Arsenault received her BFA in Visual Communications, with an emphasis Fine Art Photography, from Northern Illinois University. She discovered Western Avenue Studios five years ago.
Rainis calls twilight “the magical crack between the worlds.” Largely self-taught, she works in a variety of media, with rich colors and an impressionistic hand. With Into the Night, Rainis explores the effect of dwindling light on the New England landscape. Rainis teaches in pastels at her Lowell studio, and leads art classes for Seniors in Chelmsford and Groton.
Into the Night runs from November 1 through November 26 at Loading Dock Gallery. Join the artists for a reception on November 4, 5-7 PM, after Western Avenue Studios and Lofts First Saturday open house. Light refreshments will be served.
Also this November, Loading Dock’s Back Door Gallery features the art of Heidi Jackson.
Loading Dock Gallery, a part of Loading Dock Arts, Inc., a 501c3, is open Wednesday – Saturday, noon to 5:30 PM, and Sunday, noon to 4 PM. Find it at Western Avenue Studios, 122 Western Avenue, in Lowell, MA. For more information, call 978-656-1687, or visit www.theloadingdockgallery.com.
